Welcome to our Coquitlam shop at Pacific Granite! We are a team of fabricators specializing in custom countertops, fireplace facings, columns, wall cladding, flooring, and facade tiles. In this blog post, we would like to take you on a quick tour of our shop. First, here (below) is one of our skilled employees moving some new materials into our workshop. We have several cutting machines, like this one (below), retrofitted with diamond-coated blades which spray water to prevent burns and keep the dust down. A sheet or slab is placed on the cutting table and the dimensions and instructions are programmed into the machine, and the cuts are completed with care and precision.
After cutting the countertop, vanity, cladding, etc., these products receive a quick cleaning and are labeled with customer info. Then, they are moved to a holding area and eventually end up at a polishing station, inside our shop, to smooth out the edges and finish the fabrication. These electric polishers (below) spray water, just like the cutting machines, to prevent burns and keep the dust out of the air.
After polishing the countertop, vanity, or cladding, it’s time for a quick cleaning and squeegee. Then, we move the finished product, with a crane clamp, to a holding area.
After the fabrication is complete, the products are transported to the customer. If our customer desires us to install the item(s) then our installation team is tagged in and they take care of the installation and finishing touches. There are several other steps to the production process, but this quick blog post gives a snapshot of what we do behind the scenes.
